4.5.34.8 Esketamine Treatment
Esketamine is indicated for adults with treatment-resistant major depression who have not responded adequately to at least two different antidepressants, taken at an appropriate dose and duration for their current moderate to severe depressive episode.
Esketamine is not considered first line treatment for depression and should only be considered when other treatments such as psychotherapy or medications do not provide adequate benefit.
WorkSafe will only consider esketamine treatment when delivered by an esketamine accredited psychiatrist. The treating psychiatrist may refer the worker to a clinic where eketamine is delivered under the care of an esketamine accredited psychiatrist.
